How I’m Creating A Slower, Softer Summer This Year

Going with the soft life theme I’m embracing this year, I am choosing to have a soft life summer and romanticize this season a little more.

I realized I don’t really want a busy summer where I am constantly pressurizing myself to make every day productive or trying to create the picture-perfect summer. Instead, I want a slower, gentler summer where I can enjoy the little moments. I want to actually feel and cherish the season instead of just surviving it.

And I don’t think I’m the only one. Lately, it feels so many people are embracing the idea of a soft life summer. You may have probably noticed that “soft life”, “soft summer”, and “slow living summer” content is everywhere online right now. People are gravitating toward slow mornings, gentle cozy routines, intentional little rituals, offline hobbies, and finding comfort in simple everyday moments.

A soft life summer isn’t about having the “perfect” summer, it’s about creating a summer that feels intentional, cozy, and genuinely good to live in.

What Soft Summer Looks Like For Me

A soft summer doesn’t need expensive plans. It’s just about the smallest things.  Instead of  trying to re-inventing myself this summer, I want to enjoy the little everyday moments more.

Here are some of the things I want to do this season:

  • Have slow mornings
  • Make iced coffee at home while listening to comforting summer playlists
  • Have screen-free evenings
  • Take long walks at sunset
  • Read books instead of scrolling
  • Make art
  • Have seasonal fruits
  • Have gentle Sunday resets
  • Journal more
  • Romanticize ordinary days
  • Wear clothes that feel light and comfortable
  • Take photos just for myself
  • Go to cozy cafes

What I’m Saying No To This Summer

I feel like this is equally important. A soft life is not just about adding cozy things into your life. It’s also about letting go of the things that adds pressure and make the summer feel like it has to be perfect.

This summer, I’m saying no to:

  • Rushing through everything
  • Packing my weekends with activities just to feel productive
  • Comparing my summer to everyone else’s highlight reel

To me, soft life is about being present, living intentionally, and enjoying the little things without constantly rushing into the next thing.

Are you planning on having a soft life summer too? I’d love to know what your version of soft life summer looks like.
